BEHIND A SELF DIAGNOSIS DESIGNS

My story

Hi, I’m Makenzie, an artist with a passion for capturing the deep connections between people and the natural world. After earning my BFA in Photography from Arcadia University, I set out to explore how landscapes—especially those with rich histories—shape who we are. My work reflects that journey, blending the past and present to tell stories about the environments we inhabit and the mark they leave on us.

From the deserts of Arizona to the wild expanses of Alaska, my photography focuses on places that hold a sense of significance and history. These “untouched” landscapes are more than just beautiful—they carry stories of time, culture, and our evolving relationship with nature. Alaska’s raw, untamed beauty has drawn me in, and I’m excited to continue pushing my art forward here after years of inspiration in the Southwest.

Through my lens, I aim to create images that invite people to pause, reflect, and feel connected to the world around them. Each photograph is more than just an image—it’s a moment captured in time, waiting to find a place in your home. If my work resonates with you, I invite you to explore my collection and bring a piece of these landscapes into your own space.

My Process

My love for photography started at a young age, but it really deepened when I began exploring alternative processes. Polaroid transfers and cyanotypes became my go-tos. I love that cyanotypes are exposed by sunlight—it as though it makes in that much more connected with nature. I also enjoy experimenting with different analog techniques, like toning my work with various teas. For me, photography is not just about capturing an image but about the connection to the environment. Using processes that reflect that makes my work feel more holistic and personal. I also love sharing these techniques with others—teaching is a big part of what I do!
